Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601196 Position Category: Office/Clerical Assistant Job Title: Administrative Assistant Position Code: 00510X Position Type: Staff Department: Police Department Nature of Work: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Office of the Chief of Police by coordinating daily office operations, preparing reports, filing, organizing documents, recording meeting minutes, and responding to general correspondence. Also responsible for planning appointment schedules, making travel reservations, and managing the department's budget process. Responsible for updating the department's website and maintaining the Chief's calendar and other functions as designated by the Chief of Police. Training and Experience: INTERNAL EMPLOYEES WHO MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

Must have an Associate Degree, have successfully completed courses in business communications, data processing/software applications, typewriting and general office procedures, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A bachelor degree is preferred. The ability to operate modern office machines, word processors and personal computers is required. Testing Requirements: Clerical testing will be administered regardless of previous education or experience and must be scheduled and taken by the application deadline. Prepares agenda for meetings. Completes public reports, questionnaires, documents, schedules, tables, records and forms. Answers the telephone and makes travel reservations, arranges conferences and makes appointments for department heads and other staff members. Composes routine letters and other correspondence. Prepares and channels various interoffice forms, requisitions, vouchers, payroll activity reports, etc. Operates various office machines and maintains supply inventory.
