Position Summary:

The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine offers four dynamic MBA programs – plus PhD, specialty masters and undergraduate business degrees – that prepare business leaders for our digitally driven world. Through our programs, students acquire the exceptional ability to grow their organizations through strategic innovation, analytical decision-making, digital information technology and collaborative execution. While the Merage School is relatively young, it has quickly grown to rank consistently among the top five percent of all business programs worldwide through exceptional student recruitment, world-class faculty, a strong alumni network and close relationships with both individual business executives and global corporations. The Center for Health Care Management and Policy is a highly regarded and self-funded Center of Excellence at The Paul Merage School of Business. The Center’s mission is to build stronger ties with the health care community in Orange County and beyond by engaging our partners in collaborative research and education efforts, as well as community service programs.

Consistent with the long-range goals and objectives of The Paul Merage School of Business, the Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership of the Center in the development and implementation of innovative, high impact offerings and programs that significantly raise the visibility of the Center, increasing its prominence and that of the Merage School. The Center’s marquee event is the annual Health Care Forecast Conference (started in 1992). The conference serves as a unique venue for dialogue among government, business leaders, and academics that share their perspectives and forecasts on key economic and political issues impacting the health care industry.

Strong background in executive-level business with significant strategic implementation in Health Care-related industry.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in the Microsoft Suite. Advanced knowledge of software applications specific to industry alliance programs. Ability to teach others. Strong business analytics and prior experience managing operating budgets. Ability to break down complex concepts and tailor communication to industry partner unique needs and interests. Familiarity with MBA programs and their content. Knowledge of principles and practices of development and fundraising. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, faculty, donors, and industry partners, with an emphasis on collaboration, tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion. Advanced organizational and project management skills. Ability to lead a team, prioritize personal and team tasks and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Skilled communicator: includes verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Ability to use discretion and respect confidentiality. Deep understanding of faculty and programmatic research interests within the University.


MBA or other relevant graduate degree.
