Office hrs. are typically M-F/8:30 am – 5:00 pm. However, a flexible work schedule is required of this position, inclusive of working occasional evenings and weekends. Additionally, travel is required.

The Assistant Director of Development (ADOD) supports the management and operations of Development within the College of HRSM. The ADOD is responsible for assisting the Director of Development in the prospecting of lead annual gift opportunities, both independently and with appropriate leadership from the Director of Development. The ADOD is expected to build, manage, and steward a gift portfolio that benefits the program priorities of the College of HRSM. The successful candidate will identify leads through building relationships, data analytics, and conducting personal visits. They will also research, contact, and solicit portfolios for prospective donors for lead annual gifts of $1,000 to $25,000. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to accept and implement other specific assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience in an area such as alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development.

Required to travel to geographic location of donors/prospects, work evenings, and weekends. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Fundraising or development experience in higher education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Appropriate knowledge of principles and methods of planning and being a part of a comprehensive fundraising program or soliciting sponsorships. Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, volunteers, the business community, and the general public. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors/prospects. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary. Effective computer experience including database operation and word processing.
