The Research Assistant Professor will help direct projects applying mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) to emerging questions of HIV pharmacology. The candidate will utilize a platform for MSI, infrared matrix-assisted laser desorption electrospray ionization (IR-MALDESI), that is uniquely suited to the analysis of small molecules relevant to the treatment, prevention, and eradication of HIV. Essential job duties will entail the development of quantitative analytical methods for both experimental data acquisition and image analysis to investigate the distribution of drug, metabolites, and endogenous biomarkers in a variety of biological matrices.

Educational Requirements

Minimum requirements include a PhD in Chemistry or related field and at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience on research using mass spectrometry, preferably with a focus on laser desorption ionization techniques.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of analytical instrumentation design, signal processing, and laser optics. A track record of academic publication and successful grant writing is preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team are essential.
