This posting is for three (3) positions and by applying to this posting applicants will be considered for all three vacancies.

Selected candidate will be responsible for facilitating both high and low element challenge courses and team building programs for the Carolina Outdoor Education Center’s (COEC) Challenge Course located at the Outdoor Education Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The selected candidate will also be responsible for supervising and mentoring co-facilitators during challenge course and team building programs, as well as during staff trainings. The COEC Program provides experiential learning opportunities to UNC students, staff, and faculty, non-profit organizations, schools, churches, community groups, corporate entities, and other clientele. Individual will assist with the low challenge course and high ropes course programs. Programs take place weekdays, weekends, and some evenings during both the school year and summer. Candidates for this position must be comfortable working with all age groups, leading group activities, and working at heights.

Education and Experience

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions

Essential Skills:
•Applicants must attend and successfully complete annual Outdoor Leadership Series and subsequent bi-annual decertification and practical skills test.
•Applicants must obtain and maintain current CPR and Community First Aid certifications upon hiring.
•Candidates for this position must be comfortable working with all age groups, leading group activities, and working at heights.

Preferred Skills:
•Experience facilitating challenge course and team building programs.
•Experience planning; appropriately selecting games, activities, elements and interventions; implementing; and overseeing challenge course and team building programs.
•Experience supervising co-facilitators in a challenge course and/or team building setting.
•Working knowledge of group dynamics and team development.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Applicants must be able to work in an outdoor setting and work at heights of up to 45 feet.
