Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position



The Department of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor faculty position for the Fall of 2021.

The candidate must have an earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a Counselor Education Program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. Candidates must be a certified school counselor, K-5 experience preferred. The successful candidate will teach school counseling core courses and assist the department in expanding the curriculum from 48 to 60 credits.

The successful candidate will also have a solid research agenda, a proven record of excellence in counseling, and a record of successful teaching in the college classroom. Additionally, candidates should have, or be eligible for professional counseling certifications and/or licenses in New Jersey.

Responsibilities will include: teaching, supervising, and advising students in our graduate programs; participating in department, school, and college wide service; maintaining an active research agenda; and serving as a liaison between the department and state certification and licensure bodies.

The Department of Counselor Education, which consists of six full-time faculty members, has the first and longest running CACREP-accredited school counseling programs in New Jersey, as well as programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Student Assistance Coordinator program.
