This position works inside the Washington Corrections Center located in Shelton, WA.
Centralia College is seeking an adaptable team player to support faculty and staff in corrections education providing quality educational opportunities to incarcerated students at the Garrett Heyns Education Center located at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, WA. This center offers courses in Basic Education for Adults (BEdA), vocational and academic transfer degree programs.

Essential Duties Summary

• Verify high school credentials for all incoming incarcerated individuals
• Process education information requests, including transcript requests
• Track student applications and registrations
• Schedule appointments for visitors and navigators
• Assist with data entry into Offender Management Network Information System (OMNI), Washington Adult Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS), and other databases as needed
• Proctor educational assessments, including GED, Accuplacer, and eCASAS
• Track Teacher Aides’ timesheets
• Compile and distribute information about corrections education programs
• Confer with other departments and Department of Corrections (DOC) personnel
• Assist with conference registration and travel documents
• Provide outstanding customer service
• Establish and maintain records and files
• Create and maintain spreadsheets for courses, attendance, and equipment inventory
• Comply with DOC and college policies and procedures
• Participate in division meetings and committee assignments
• Perform related duties as required and/or assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ clerical experience preferably in an educational or corrections setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree
• Experience working with incarcerated or recently released individuals
• Experience working in the DOC and/or higher education or community college system
• Outstanding organizational Skills
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Bilingual Spanish

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Classified employees are represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

The successful candidate must pass the Department of Corrections security clearance and complete Department of Corrections New Employee Orientation Training and adhere to all Department of Corrections rules, policies, and procedures.

ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION:
If you are hired, you will need proof of identity, and documentation of U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work.

BACKGROUND CHECK:
Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
