Research Project Associate
DescriptionUnder direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Project Associate performs data analysis, biostatistics analyses, and prepares graphs, and organizes literature and bibliography for grant submission and manuscript preparation.
Responsibilities include: preparing IACUC protocols under the direction of the PI; organizing laboratory mice experimental groups based on statistical evaluation and predicting outcome of studies; assisting other laboratory members including the PI in the collection of data from metabolic studies, inflammation studies and biochemical analyses; assisting the PI in the preparation, implementation, and recording results of new experimental protocols for in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro studies; maintaining quality control in the lab; maintaining equipment logs; maintaining bibliography databases; participate in data mining. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in physics, chemistry, biology, physiology, or anatomy and at least one year of experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:*Demonstrated ability to use IBM and Apple OS based computer and software
*Ability to understand major statistical concepts and study design
*Ability to proficiently use MS Office Suite
*Ability to Use bibliography software such as Endnote, and Reference Manager
*Ability to use major accessible molecular and clinical database system
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to work both independently and within a group
*Knowledge of common laboratory methodologies
*Knowledge of the operation of common laboratory equipment and protocols
*Willingness to learn new methodologies and approaches to research
This is a grant funded position.
