About American International College:

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Job Description:

*Responsible for primary care of acute and sub-acute, chronic and episodic conditions, illnesses, and injuries; assumes ongoing responsibility for a patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery under the supervision of a physician or specific protocol

*Follow protocols, diagnose common illnesses and injuries with the ability to distinguish between normal, normal variance, and abnormal findings based upon evaluation of the patient's medical history and physical examination

*Perform complete physical examinations (pre-matriculation, study abroad, employment, and sports participation) including taking medical history, using the clinical techniques of observation, percussion, palpation, and auscultation

*Perform women's health examinations including screening for abnormalities, contraceptive methods, pregnancy testing, and STI evaluation with referral to community specialists if needed

*Select and request laboratory tests, x-rays, and diagnostic tests, interpreting test results together with a patient's history and physical to assess a patient's needs

*Prescribe medication and contraceptive methods in accordance with prescriptive authority and perform suturing and special procedures

*Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

*Required Degree(s): Successfully completed a licensure course and be licensed to practice.

*Required Field of Expertise: Two years post-certification or post-licensure medical practice

*Preferred Field of Expertise: Experience working in a college student health environment.

*Required Training/Cert: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a nationally recognized organization.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

*Knowledge of budget management and planning

*Must be able to work with a diverse student body from a variety of backgrounds and socio-economic experiences

*Strong supervisory and decision making skills.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, non-exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal department office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. This is a 10-month position scheduled for 35 hours per week during the months of August through May. Requires the ability to work pre-scheduled new student orientation during the summer months. The position is not required to be on-call or work weekends.
