Financial Aid Scholarship Officer Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 202009116041 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $50,000 - $74,300 Position Information Participates with other counselors, the Assistant Director and Associate Director in the ongoing development and enhancement of the UCR Financial Aid Office processing system (Banner); Maintains scholarship records; presents financial aid information both on and off-campus to groups of students, campus partners and donors; Active contributor to discussions and recommends change when appropriate to better meet the needs to the populations served; Uses an understanding of the special needs and problems experienced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and address these needs by offering supportive guidance; Composes correspondence to students and other clients relative to aid eligibility and office policy and procedures; performs special assignments and other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid, Associate Director, or Assistant Director. A cover letter is required for consideration of the application. The budgeted salary range for this position is between $50,000 to $74,300. Ability to interpret policies and develop procedures to ensure compliance.

Experience using complex databases. Ability to define specifications for database programming.

Strong proficiency with standard office software as well as internet and email applications. Working knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
Working knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid; specialized knowledge of particular programs.
Ability to work effectively with all levels within the University and develop informal, cooperative relationships among diverse, multifunctional departments; anticipate clients' needs expectations and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures.
Specialized knowledge of particular programs and verification procedures to include R2T4, dislocated worker, independent status verification, and resolution of C comments.
Ability to resolve marital status conflicting information.
Ability to occasionally work overtime during peak periods.
Strong experience in professional judgment decisions, including dependency overrides.
Ability to travel to on and off campus presentations, workshops, and conferences.
Ability to exercise advising and counseling skills by analyzing a variety of factors (financial data, family circumstances, social background, academic status, educational goals) and applies knowledge of federal, state, University, and outside agency laws, regulations, and policies to determine students' eligibility for various types of financial aid.
