The Office of the Registrar has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Transfer Equivalency Specialist position.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.
Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. 
At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
Position Emphasis:The Transfer Equivalency Specialist will perform an evaluation for courses or test scores coming from other institutions of higher education, advanced placement examinations, international baccalaureate examinations, CLEP examinations, and military courses. This position will be responsible for gaining knowledge of and understanding of established standard CU Denver guidelines, rules, regulations, and articulation agreements with Colorado community colleges, and accreditation policies. This position researches and interprets course content for the evaluation process by investigating course descriptions in college catalogs or by exchanging and collecting information with institutions in question. This position requires the ability to acquire knowledge and application of grading systems, course requirements and transcript format. Position applies appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure the accuracy of the data elements within transfer articulation component. In addition, this position will assist in the process to identify new guidelines and advocates for changes to existing guidelines and procedures. This position will also be required to assist in other areas on the Transfer and Graduation Services team to include, but not be limited to: graduation checkout processes, degree audit coding or maintenance, and support for planner and scheduler technologies.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:The salary range (or the hiring range) for this position has been established at $ 35,693 to $40,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Condition of Employment: Must be willing and able to pass a criminal background and sex offender registry check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with overseeing data maintenance related to compliance with academic policies.
  • Experience with student information systems within a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Academic Services or Student Services in a higher education setting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to analyze multiple complex system components including but not limited to the student information and DARS systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
