Occupational Summary

Write, modify, and maintain computer programs required to enhance clinical care and research; analyze research needs to determine feasibility of adapting manual procedures to computer applications.

Work Preformed

Write, modify, maintain, and validate computer programs

Review programming specifications (or CPM SAP) to ensure accuracy.

Write programs to support research needs.

Validate computer applications to ensure that they are correct

Ensure programming SOP or guidance compliance, as applicable.

Learn how to write programming specifications by authoring simple specifications or assisting with the writing of more complex specifications (or CPM SAP).

Project management and documentation

Lead less complex and smaller scale programming projects.

Provide work status updates to supervisor.

Capably estimate time required to complete various tasks for budgeting and forecasting.

Attend and contribute to team meetings as required.

Follow documentation SOP and guidance requirements as applicable.

Maintain statistical documentation and/or eTMF.

Apply and share new techniques to increase efficiencies

Understand industry trends (e.g., regulatory, technical, CDISC) by formal training and on the job project experience.

Assist in mentoring staff as needed.

Educate others in formal and informal settings.

Support departmental infrastructure improvements (e.g., creating documentation, testing applications, and attending change meetings).

Other Duties

Attend departmental mee tings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Exhibit excellent communication and collaborative team skills.

· Working knowledge of SAS, R, or Python Software as well as Linux operating system knowledge preferred.

· General knowledge in the area of clinical trials or clinical research highly preferred. For clinical trials, exposure to CDISC is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in mathematics or computer science or a computer-related field or equivalent coursework or technical training.

Experience

Work requires two years applications programming experience with some responsibility for systems design and supervision or project coordination. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
