Job Description

The University of Missouri (MU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the School of Medicine (SOM) and Department of Biochemistry, which is jointly affiliated with the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) and SOM. Responsibilities will include contributions to medical, graduate and undergraduate education. This is one in a series of recruitments. We seek applications in areas of including gene/genome regulation, gene delivery and transgenic technology, synthetic biology, medicinal biochemistry, structural biology and imaging, including development of new molecular markers and reporters. Of particular interest are areas of fundamental science that might relate to emerging strengths in biomedical translation, precision health and/or electron microscopy (see below).
Responsibilities: We seek dynamic individuals who will lead federally-funded research programs, contribute to medical, graduate and/or undergraduate education programs through instruction and research mentorship, and contribute to academic service on the campus and/or professionally.

About MU and Biochemistry: MU is the flagship campus of the University of Missouri System. MU Biochemistry has a reputation for excellence in interdisciplinary research and effective instruction. The department forms a bridge between fundamental molecular science and translation into biomedical and agricultural applications. Biomedical advances will be anchored by the $225M NextGen Precision Health Institute, opening Fall 2021, that will house an Electron Microscopy center with multiple state-of-art instruments. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate.
Preferred Qualifications: A record of research in an area of biomedically-relevant biochemistry that complements departmental strengths. Applications for this position at the Assistant Professor level are encouraged, but candidates at a higher level will be considered if there is evidence of continuous extramural research funding, high impact publications and excellence in teaching and service expected of tenured faculty at a research-intensive university. A record of successful post-doctoral research; ability to communicate effectively in a research and educational setting; and evidence of past research collaborations or a willingness to work in related research areas.
