Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, the Director, Procurement Innovation & Effectiveness will collaborate within the department, across Penn, and among Penn’s external stakeholders to identify opportunities and lead initiatives that improve procurement effectiveness through innovative solutions.

Job Description

Along with managing a pipeline of key continuous improvement initiatives, this role will have responsibility for procurement training development, communications (including website), and events coordination.

The selected candidate will have a skillset that includes project management and leadership; relationship management; advanced procurement systems expertise, advanced written and oral communications, and events management.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a background that includes the following: bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred); project leadership experience; end-to-end higher ed procurement experience; experience developing and deploying training elements; demonstrated relationship management success; and client-focused consulting and/or program management experience.

The Director will promote a positive work environment, spirit of cooperation, and a customer-centric approach to procurement. The Director will be held to the highest standards of stewardship ensuring compliance with all related financial policies and procedures. As part of that responsibility, the Director will report all known or suspected non-compliance or irregularities to the Chief Procurement Officer and/or the Vice President of Business Services.
