The Producer for On Point (a Monday-Friday one hour public affairs national broadcast and podcast) is responsible for production, tone and sound quality in consultation with the On Point Executive Producer and the On Point Technical Director and leads the sound design strategy and production of On Point episodes, segments and promotional audio across all platforms. The Producer edits and supervises audio editing processes for non-live production within On Point episodes on all platforms. This role produces first-person-narrative segments and interviews with On Point's Senior Managing Producer, leads On Point's strategy in procuring first-person accounts (radio diaries, opening interviews with listeners and others who represent 'the expertise of the lived experience.') In collaboration with On Point colleagues, the Producer develops story ideas, proposes segments, and participates in planning and designing of On Point episodes and themed programs. The Producer fills in for On Point's Technical Director when they are away to ensure overall technical quality and operate WBUR's studio console (board) in the live broadcast of On Point to stations across America including the playing of pre-taped segments and live guests broadcasting from locations around the country. On occasion, this role will direct live and taped On Point programs and segments. In consultation with On Point's Senior Managing Producer and Technical Director, the Producer oversees the training of On Point staff in recording and audio editing. The Producer may also play a role in audio training for WBUR editorial staff.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree required with at least three to five years of related work experience.
