The laboratory utilizes a variety of animals models and molecular, biochemical and cellular assays to explore how the dynamic relationship between the intestinal microbiota and the innate immune system impacts chronic inflammation and cancer development/progression. In particular, the laboratory has a strong emphasis on the identification and targeting of cell signal transduction pathways and inflammatory cytokines for the treatment of these diseases. An ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be well-organized, self-motivated and work well both independently and in larger research groups.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mouse colony maintenance, genotyping and experimental models
  • Cell culture and related in vitro experiments, including generation, genetic manipulation and maintenance of primary cells and cell lines with supervision
  • General lab upkeep including ordering lab supplies, prepare solutions/reagents for the laboratory, assist in compilation/writing of reports, protocols and manuscripts.
  • Protein, RNA and cellular isolation techniques and analyses including western blotting, ELISAs, qPCR and Flow cytometry
  • Assisting in training new lab members
  • Additional related duties may be assigned as it relates to this position
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience.
