The University of Miami/UHealth, UMHC/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at Plantation has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Manager, Chemotherapy/Infusion Unit. The Nurse Manager, Infusion will oversee and coordinate the activities of nursing personnel in patient care units, participates in planning work of assigned units, and orchestrates department’s activities with other patient care units and related departments. Moreover, the incumbent ensures that patients' needs are met and evaluates unit nursing care and performance.
• Works with leadership to determine the optimal allocation of staff, per shift and on each unit.
• Serves as administrative authority for the smooth functioning of all units on assigned shift.
• Notifies administrator, associate administrator, or other relevant staff of urgent concerns during the shift.
• Reviews schedule to assure that staffing is in place.
• Makes rounds on operational clinical units to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of patient care, staff regulations, and effective service.
• Maintains a high level of familiarity with systems that support clinical and business functionality.
• Provides leadership in building loyalty and commitment throughout the department.
• Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
• Responsible for the management of the daily operation of patient care, compliance with nursing standards, patient satisfaction, and clinical performance improvement.
• Responsible for patient flow throughout designated clinical areas. Identifies patient flow barriers both internal and external to the clinical operation, and provides and/or implements improvement solutions.
• Responsible for assuring patient care is delivered in alignment with hospital mission, and nursing department goals and objectives.
• Responsible for insuring unit(s) are adequately staffed and personnel are appropriately trained for their given assignments in order to provide safe, quality care.
• Responsible for assuring unit(s) are prepared for Joint Commission surveys and inspections from regulatory agencies.
• Coordinates with superiors and Human Resource department the management of personnel to include recruitment, retention, employee incentive and evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN required
  • Valid/current Florida RN license
  • BLS/ACLS required
  • Five (5) years relevant work experience to include recent management experience.
  • Recent experience in administering chemotherapy and agents
  • Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Administration Guidelines provider course
  • Oncology certification preferred
