Upward Bound Tutor

Program Description:

Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program that provides fundamental support to Grant County students in grades 9-12, in their preparation for college entrance.Through various initiatives, such as academic tutoring, academic advising and educational/cultural field trips, Upward Bound identifies, motivates, and prepares eligible students to complete high school, enroll in, and graduate from a post-secondary educational institution.

Campus Location: Upward Bound Office, 4201 South Washington Street, Marion, IN 46953

Position Description:

Upward Bound tutors provide participants with academic support and supplemental instruction in the core subjects of math, science, foreign language, composition and/or literature.

Qualifications:

Indiana Wesleyan University seeks individuals with a strong Christian commitment.

· Minimum of two years teaching experience

· Experience working with potential first generation and/or low-income students

· Experience working with Upward Bound students preferred

· Ability to relay concepts clearly

· Authentic

· Relational

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in creating an environment that is conducive to learning

· Build relationships with high school students

· Tutor high school students

· Assist students in completing tutoring reports

· Provide a weekly report

· Attend tutor meetings/trainings

· Additional duties may be assigned
