Program Description:Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program that provides fundamental support to Grant County students in grades 9-12, in their preparation for college entrance.Through various initiatives, such as academic tutoring, academic advising and educational/cultural field trips, Upward Bound identifies, motivates, and prepares eligible students to complete high school, enroll in, and graduate from a post-secondary educational institution.Campus Location: Upward Bound Office, 4201 South Washington Street, Marion, IN 46953 Position Description:
Upward Bound tutors provide participants with academic support and supplemental instruction in the core subjects of math, science, foreign language, composition and/or literature.Qualifications:Indiana Wesleyan University seeks individuals with a strong Christian commitment.· Minimum of two years teaching experience· Experience working with potential first generation and/or low-income students· Experience working with Upward Bound students preferred· Ability to relay concepts clearly· Authentic· Relational Duties and Responsibilities:· Assist in creating an environment that is conducive to learning· Build relationships with high school students· Tutor high school students· Assist students in completing tutoring reports· Provide a weekly report· Attend tutor meetings/trainings· Additional duties may be assigned Contact Person:Stenway Louvé, Upward Bound Director[email protected] Initial appointment, when applicable, is contingent upon completion of acceptable background check.
