Position Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Data and Systems, oversees all financial aid data management activities associated with a broadly diversified portfolio of student aid programs (Federal, State, and University Grants, loans, work-study, and University and external scholarships) exceeding $1 billion annually. The Associate Director is also responsible for leading systems and technology development of the current and planned financial aid system and ad hoc reporting tools, with an emplhasis on automating and streamlining financial aid awarding, administration and reporting processes. The incumbent assists the Executive Director in overall managment of the office including fiscal key controls, systems and technology development and security, goal setting, policy making , planning, and improving organizational structure. The incumbent serves as a key member of the management team to promote productivity, collaboration, and coordination within and between all sections of the office, and is directly responsible for the oversight of all financial aid data and systems, including institutional, federal and state (Fund management, as well as reporting). Assists the Executive Director in high-level matters and serves at the Executive Director's request on University committees.

This position requires a demonstrated advanced capability for: i) developing and maintaining fiscal key controls, ii) managing university fund management procedures (reconciliation and closing processes), iii) participate in internal and external audits, iv) analysis and oversight of all regulatory and ad hoc statistical reports, v) ability to interpret regulatory and institutional requirements and apply changes to systems and technology platforms (specifications, testing, implementation, and training for the current and planned financial aid system and ad hoc reporting relational databases (data warehouses including SQL server, Microsoft Access QDB/Fiscal tools, COGNOS and Tableau)). Additionally, the incumbent helps to administer a large, complex, and comprehensive student financial aid delivery system that currently relies on a mainframe system for financial aid processing, and is committed to continued advancements in automation of processes, including on-line access and support.
