Job Summary

Columbus State University has an opening for a Student Records Specialist. Under direct supervision of the University Registrar, this position will receive daily work assignments from the Associate Registrar and will specialize in student academic records. Specific duties include: enrollment data requests, student registration changes, major changes, degree audit adjustments, transfer credit evaluations, transcript requests, and all other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with transcript requests and troubleshooting issues; issuing student enrollment verifications; processing academic major changes; processing registration changes; adjusting student degree audits as requested; assisting transfer credit evaluations as needed; working collaboratively as part of the Enrollment Management staff and aids the Enrollment Services Center when scheduled; working as a team member in the Office of the Registrar and serves as support for events and activities such as commencement, orientation, and others as required; and all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; or two years of college and two or more years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; a strong customer focus; a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; the ability to communicate effectively with other staff, faculty, students, and parents; the ability to prioritize tasks during high volume work times and to switch between tasks if required; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; the ability to perform detailed and complex work tasks accurately and efficiently; and the ability to cultivate a working knowledge of transfer equivalencies and accreditations of institutions and the laws pertaining to student records under FERPA.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include: Two years' experience working in an Office of Admission, Advising, or Registrar within a post-secondary institution; knowledge of Ellucian Banner software; and a demonstrated proficiency in SQL.
