With the guidance of one or more staff or faculty members, perform a mixture of services in support of communication, technology, business operations or student affairs activities as more than 50% of their service.
The Staff Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and tuition waiver subject to federal tax.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In consultation with one or more staff or faculty members, assist in the support of the affairs of a program, department, office and/or curriculum.
Other departmental related duties as required.
Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 for 50%) is required.
GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Admission and enrollment in a graduate program is required.
Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.
Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.

The Department of Africology and African American Studies at Eastern Michigan University is looking for qualified applicants to fill 2 half-time graduate assistant positions for the 2020/21 academic year that begins in Fall, 2020. Applications are invited from qualified EMU graduate students, including internal and external graduating seniors who have been admitted to graduate programs at Eastern Michigan University or whose applications for admission to graduate programs are pending. Each of the graduate assistants will work for 10 hours a week on general administrative, instructional and/or research-related duties--as needed. Each position pays a stipend and tuition for up to 9 credit hours for the fiscal year of the appointment, along with other benefits. For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.
For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.
