Hiring Department TRIO Student Support Services Responsibilities

• Assist the TRIO Director with the day-to-day operations of the program, including the selection of participants, and marketing of the program on campus.
• Work cooperatively in executing the program grant mission, goals and objectives.
• Arrange and conduct seminars, workshops and programs designed to enhance diversity awareness.
• Assist with training and supervising student workers.
• Assist with developing, implementing, and executing collaborations with various units on campus to support grant efforts.
• Monitor the academic progress and develop a success plan of TRIO participants by analyzing data and progress.
• Co-develop and co-lead academic and nonacademic workshops for SSS TRIO participants.
• Assist SSS TRIO students by providing appropriate resources and services on/off campus.
• Monitor SSS TRIO participants with academic progress and adjustment to university life; provide guidance for academic and non-academic concerns.
• Lead the coordination and implementation of retention, marketing and recruitment initiatives and activities for SSS TRIO. This includes recruitment event planning for prospective students, designing and executing various workshops, programs and information sessions for students, parents and campus community.
• Must work successfully with multiple parties to meet and achieve SSS TRIO grant goals and effectively implement initiatives.
• Support and attend functions as deemed necessary in support of SSS TRIO efforts and professional development.
• Assist in leadership in the implementation and coordination of SSS TRIO programs, workshops, and seminars.
• Maintain detailed and ongoing account of student and/or group counseling sessions.
• Assist with development of SSS TRIO marketing materials explaining the services and programs of the office; assist with the dissemination of information.
• Other duties assigned by the SSS Director or designee.

Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or higher education experience is preferred.
• Three year’s experience in counseling/guidance, student personnel administration, higher education administration.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Evidence of two years' experience working with low-income, first-generation, or disabled students.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic departments, faculty, staff, students, and the local community.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with a diverse student body.
• Ability to coordinate complex activities with multiple parties, work independently; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and some weekend assignments.
