TITLE: Assistant Professor of Public Administration

REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Public Administration

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time                                                     

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt                      

                             

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

The College of Public Service and Leadership Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

The successful candidate will teach MPA courses (Core, Human Resource Management Specialty, Non-Profit Specialty, and/or Electives), advise students, perform scholarly and/or applied research, and engage in university and community service.  Typically, three courses will be taught per semester.   Duties may also include teaching on-line and/or undergraduate courses.   

 

OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must have an earned doctorate in Public Administration or Political Science.  (ABD’s with clear and imminent dates will be considered.  Those with Political Science doctorates must have completed at least 30 graduate hours in Public Administration.  Candidates possessing teaching experience, academic publication records, applied research experience, and practitioner experience will be preferred.   


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

Candidates should appreciate a diverse student population, participate in recruitment/retention activities, and advise/mentor students. An established record of scholarly activity and service are expected.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position will not have supervisory responsibility. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
