Dental Assistant Supervisor

The College of Dentistry is recruiting for a Dental Assistant Supervisor to manage the daily operations of the Central Sterilization unit in the department of Clinic Administration. This position coordinates and performs daily duties to ensure all three locations operate safely, accurately, and efficiently. Duties include:

• Ensure all federal, state, UFCD, and industry-standard regulations and guidelines are maintained
• Develop a central sterilization team as DANB “Certified Sterile Equipment Technicians”
• Manage daily staff assignments and lunch and break coverage
• Manage adjustments to daily staff assignments in the event of staff shortage
• Ensure all student leasing instrument kits are properly washed, verified, wrapped or bagged, labeled, and sterilized accurately and in a timely manner for pick-up
• Ensure all Oral Surgery reusable equipment is properly washed, verified, wrapped or bagged, labeled, and sterilized accurately and in a timely manner for pick-up
• Work toward transitioning additional departments to utilize the full services of Central Sterilization.
• Ensure department instrument kits are properly washed, wrapped or bagged, labeled, and sterilized accurately and in a timely manner for pick-up or delivery
• Ensure all area supplies are ordered and levels are adequate
• Perform (along with other staff members) periodic inventory counts of instrument kits
• Manage instrument kit inventory using axiUm and Metalcraft ID system
• Ensure all requested instruments for courses and other activities are sterilized and ready for pick-up or delivery
• Manage the missing and broken instrument process using axiUm and Outlook messaging
• Manage sharps breach and other professional variance issues relating to instrument kits
• Ensure all biological testing is completed and documented
• Maintain equipment maintenance schedule and arrange for necessary repairs
• Perform other duties as assigned

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour

High school diploma or equivalent and six years of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) Certification demonstrating the successful completion of training as specified in Chapter 64B5-16, Florida Administrative Code.

• Expanded Functions Dental Assistant or Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. certified Dental Assistant (DANB, CDA) with infection control component completion
• Extensive knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and State of Florida regulations and guidelines for dental sterilization and infection control
• College coursework in related subjects
• Ability to effectively plan, organize, and perform work assignments
• Ability to established and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Attention to detail
