The B3 Institute seeks a Graduate Research Assistant to provide translation support for a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the implementation of the professional development program entitled Historias Americanas: Engaging History and Citizenship in the Rio Grande Valley.

*Translate documents, Power Points, and related material from English to Spanish for the Historias Americanas program
*Attend meetings and related events
*Communicate and work with project director, program coordinator, faculty from the Translation & Interpreting Program and other UTRGV faculty, staff, and personnel from Edinburg and Brownsville school districts, as well as Museum of South Texas History personnel
*Assist in the development and translation of promotional materials such as brochures and maps and with translation of items in the Historias Americanas website
*Assist with other duties as needed

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

*Must have excellent organization and computer skills
*Great attention to detail
*Superior proof-reading in Spanish
*Formal coursework (undergraduate and/or graduate) in English to Spanish Translation
*Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Must be able to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team
*Must work well with diverse groups of people

Preferred Qualifications

*Experience with basic operation of SDL Trados or similar translation memory software
*Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant programs
*Evidence of a professional background in Spanish translation
*Be bilingual (Spanish/English)
*Reading and writing knowledge in Spanish
