The Medical Assistant isresponsible for assisting the physicians and nurses in the preparation anddelivery of health care to clinic patients by performing a variety of medicallyrelated tasks to ensure smooth patient flow for TUP Urology Operations.Primarily, the Medical Assistant performs clinical tasks such as takingpatients' vital signs, weight, and documenting reason for visit in medicalchart; may give injections, may perform skin testing, urine tests, and drawblood; ensures that exam rooms are prepared for patient visits; scheduleslaboratory tests and completes necessary forms for physician referrals andhospitalizations; packages specimens for pick-up or delivery; deliversspecimens and requisitions to lab and pharmacy; and receives and stores all medicaland surgical supplies. In addition, the Medical Assistant may assist withcystoscopies, may assist with biopsies, clean instruments and operatesterilizer; deliver patient care individualized relative to age/developmentaland psycho-socio-cultural patient treatment needs; and will call in andretrieve necessary lab reports, ultrasound, x-rays and mammogram reports.Performs other duties as assigned.
RequiredEducation and Experience:
MedicalAssistant Certification with at least two years’ experience. Anequivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
RequiredSkills and Abilities:
*Demonstratedfamiliarity with medical terminology.
*Mustpossess effective and professional communication, detail oriented, able tocomplete tasks in a timely manner and organizational skills.
*Abilityto maintain positive interactions with the patients, their families andassociated medical professionals in a respectful and courteous manner.
*Mustbe self-motivated and able to adapt to change and work under stressfulcircumstances.
*Demonstratedproficiency in the operations of clinical equipment.
*Mustbe able to work a flexible schedule and travel to off-site locations that maynot be accessible by public transportation; including Temple locations inCenter City and Fort Washington.
*Experiencewith EPIC and IDX.
