Job Summary

Provide leadership and support for a variety of programs and services that assist undergraduate students in developing academic skills and contribute to increased retention and graduation. Oversee Georgia Tech's Academic Coaching program, which includes an extensive personal coaching load as well as establishing best practices for the coaching team. This position will interact on a regular basis with: students, faculty, and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: students, faculty, and staff. This position will supervise: students.

Responsibilities

Assist with the ongoing development and assessment of a comprehensive academic coaching program.

Support the development, delivery, and assessment of effective intervention programs for and outreach to academically 'at-risk' or 'off course' students.

Teach, develop, and propose new courses on 'learning to learn' or academic success for students.

Assist with the development and delivery of academic success workshops and other outreach activities for undergraduate students.

Conduct outreach to academic advisors or other campus partners on topics related to student learning.

Liaise with campus partners about appropriate coaching for students.

Assist with the development and delivery of academic success workshops and other outreach activities for undergraduate students.

Assist with reports and summaries as requested for faculty, advisors, and other academic administrators related to students in academic difficulty.

Serve on committees and task forces

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

Three or more years of related professional experience (advising, academic/success coaching, retention, teaching & learning, college student counseling); Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening)

Master’s degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience in academic coaching highly desirable; Teaching experience; Experience applying theory to practice in supporting academic success and student development; Experience using software and technology applications (student data systems, appointment management); Experience working with students in STEM

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires the ability to communicate with diverse population of students, staff and faculty as well as possess leadership, administrative advising/counseling, customer service and the ability to work in a team environment. Skills in use of standard computer applications are required.

Must be highly organized and able to prioritize tasks

Must be able to work with students on an individual basis and in group settings to guide the process of defining academic goals, identifying challenges, and developing action plans for success

Able to master knowledge of campus resources, referral systems, and build collaborative relationships with campus partners

Knowledge of literature and best practices in academic recovery, supporting students on probation, and promoting academic self-efficacy is necessary
