DescriptionThe MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGHInstitute) in Boston invites nominations and applications for the Chairpersonof the Department of Occupational Therapy. Our entry-level Occupational TherapyDoctoral Program (OTD) graduated its first class in 2017 and, in its first everranking from US News and World Report, placed in the top 12% in the country.Our faculty, students, and alumni have already made their mark on theprofession and the clients we serve with many state, national, andinternational presentations and numerous awards, publications, fellowships, andgrants. In Fall 2020 we will enroll our first class in the Post-ProfessionalDoctoral Program (PP-OTD), an online program designed for workingprofessionals. 

 We are seeking a visionary leader in our Schoolof Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) team joining highly ranked mastersand doctoral programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, PhysicalTherapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Genetic Counseling, and a PhD inRehabilitation Sciences The candidate for this position should be a championfor Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Practice (IPP) and well versed inissues related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in education andhealthcare. This position represents a unique opportunity for an innovativeprofessional to build important partnerships within our practice community andsupport the Institute’s goals of preparing health professions leaders,advancing health care for our diverse communities, and contributing to aculture of inclusive excellence. 

 Reporting directly to the Dean of SHRS, theDepartment Chair will mentor and support outstanding faculty who are at diversestages of their academic careers. Opportunities abound for collaborations inresearch and scholarship and clinical practice within the department and SHRS,across the Institute, and in local, regional, and international locations. Ouracademic and clinical affiliations offer unparalleled opportunities to learnand work alongside expert educators and practitioners in a variety of medical,educational, and community settings, including our new onsite interprofessionalImpact Practice Center. 

 Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard inBoston, the MGH Institute is an independent graduate school affiliated with theMass General Brigham System, which includes nationally and internationallyrenowned institutions such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham andWomen’s Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, Massachusetts Eye and Ear,a physician’s network, community health centers, and other healthcare entities.The Institute is composed of three schools: SHRS, the School of Nursing, andthe Center for Interprofessional Studies and Innovation, which houses amaster’s program and a PhD in Health Professions Education (See video).

 The Chair will be responsible for aspects ofacademic leadership and administration within the department as the head of anadministrative group including two Program Directors and a program manager. Theadaptable, visionary, and future-thinking candidate would preferably have arecord of successful collaborations; strong communication skills; and be aproponent of emerging practice areas and innovative solutions.

Qualifications
•Doctoraldegree, PhD or similar preferred

•Experienceas an OT educator  

•Licensedor eligible for OT licensure in Massachusetts

•Experiencewith academic programs and clinical partnership development

•Experiencewith ACOTE accreditation  

•Consistentrecord of scholarship and service    

 The position is a 12-month appointment, with rankand salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
