Occ Summary

The Clinical Services Lead RN is a role develo pedto work incoordination with the nursing leadership in an assigned uni tordepartment to ensure the work is accomplished effectively. The Clinic alServices Lead RN is the first line support for staff, physicians andot her related providers on service- specific clinical issues. TheClinical Services Lead RN is generally a long-term role, requiringclinical and in terpersonal skills. The Clinical Services Lead RNcollaborates with the m anager on clinical and non-clinical issues(employee relations, individua lbehaviors, physician relationships,etc.). The Clinical Services Lead RN is the support for theunit/department/service when the manager is unavai lable. The ClinicalServices Team Leader is responsible for supervising,d irecting, coachingand mentoring their assigned core group of staff.

< br/>Work Performed

Duties and responsibilities include alltho se required of the CSN IV aswell as:Plan and coordinate clinical require ments for staff and ensure that allCBO and CBE requirements for staffare current.Plan and assist with coordination of unit staff schedules and s ubmit formanager approval.Coordinate clinical requirements with staff re garding equipment andsupplies.Consult with preceptors and orienteeson a regular basis to providesupport and determine how orientation should pro ceed on an individualbasis.Collaborate with the manager for issue resolu tions and projects toimprove work flow processes throughout the departme nt utilizing aproactive approach.Collaborate with different departments (pharmacy, radiology, lab,registration) to resolve issues and improve wo rk flow processesthroughout the department.Collaborate with the nurse ma nagers in the interview process fornewapplicants.Mentor/coach staff to enhance their professional development.Assesses the performance ofassign ed new hires and orientees includingentry level nurses, nursing care ass istants and health unitcoordinators; provides ongoing feedback andcoaching.Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply iss uesto appropriate team members (Materials, Biomed, Sterile Processing,et c).Mentor and monitor the preceptors for all new employees.Provide clini cal/education updates and skill check-offs to entire staffon a regular b asis.Provides immediatesupport and education on policy, procedures,equip ment and supplies.Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching ne wtechnology/procedures.Demonstrates awareness of current problems and ba sic plan for allpatients within assigned area.Provides clinicalconsultat ion and guidance as needed to facilitatepatient care.Gives assistance an d/or direction to staff to facilitate quality patientflow.Assess staffin g needs according to workload and staff competency; Re-assignsand adjust s staffing based upon patient care needs.Delegates responsibilities with in the scope of practice and validatedcompetencies in order tomeet the w orkload demands of the shift.Facilitates assignments that support learni ng for the orientee or nurselearner.Promotes an atmosphere ofopen commun ication that facilitates staffinput into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and collegialityamong all health team members.Communicates in an effective, professional manner.Facilitates staff performance audits r elated to attitude, teamperformance, The Joint Commission, DFS Standards and SCIP initiatives.Reviews and comments on forwarded SRSsrelated to t heir team or shift.Facilitates and encourages staff participation in departmental andhospital committee and council meetings.Attends departmenta l and hospital committee meetings as assigned.Coordinates,facilitates, p articipates and directs departmental projectswith follow-through and app ropriate follow-up.Other projects and duties as directed by the departme nt managers.

Level Characteristics


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.


Three years of experience in nursing practice. Selected candidates must meet the Clinical Ladder requirements for CN III within one year of appointment.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North Carolina. BCLS certification is required.
