The mission of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research is to convene varied researchers and practitioners to figure out novel and practical ways to understand, explain, and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequity and injustice. We foster exhaustive racial research, research-based policy innovation, data-driven educational and advocacy campaigns, and narrative-change initiatives. We are working toward building an antiracist society that ensures equity and justice for all.
This role will work directly on a small-knit team with the Center's Director, Managing Director, and the Assistant to the Director on all communications for cohesiveness.
The Communication Specialist will craft content specifically for the Director. The Specialist must represent the Director and Center's voice and mission with an ability to receive constructive feedback.
The day-to-day job is as follows:
- Leads all aspects of various websites and social media platforms
- Lend support to schedule media appearances and coverage for the Director
- Liaisons with internal and external entities to lead on the coordination of the Director's public events, which could include some travel
- Coordinate and counsel on media and communications initiatives, including the Director’s book, print, online, audio, television, and film projects.

Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience with a known to work with public relations management required. Ability to think strategically; a mastery of writing and editing; excellent interpersonal; versatility; and equanimity under pressure. Web publishing experience and graphic design proficiency required. Knowledge of WordPress, Photoshop, InDesign is a plus.
