Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work
The research in the Schwartz/Yang Lab focuses on understanding how environmental stimuli affect health through genetic and epigenetic mechanisms. State-of-the-art techniques, including next generation sequencing, CRISPR genome editing, and transgenic animal models are used to accomplish these goals.  We are looking for an individual interested in developing skills in computational functional genomics. This individual will work under joint mentorship of Drs. David Schwartz and Ivana Yang.

Areas of Responsibility / Scope of Research
This individual will work on a project aimed at identification of molecular signatures of genetic variants associated with pulmonary fibrosis. Implementation of state of the art multi-omic integration and network analysis methodology to multiple -omic datasets, including single cell transcriptome data, from lung tissue and isolated cell populations will be required.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in a biological discipline, bioinformatics, or biostatistics
  • Minimum of 2 years of mentored research
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computational skills to compile and analyze data, including advanced skills in utility programming (Python or similar language) and working in a Linux environment (bash, awk, etc.) on a cluster
  • Advanced skills in high-throughput data analysis and familiarity with widely used genomic databases and software including R and Bioconductor
  • Proven experience and familiarity in analysis of human omic datasets, especially single cell analysis
