Part-time Support Staff
Varies between campuses

The Building Services Specialist serves as the primary support staff to faculty, students, staff and the public at various campus buildings. The Building Services Specialist may be the only college resource immediately available at the assigned building or campus during the work shift. Reporting to the Campus Services Manager, the Building Services Specialist will assist and advise faculty, students, staff and visitors about various administrative support needs and concerns. The position is also responsible for monitoring attendance for classes and activities during evenings and weekends. The position will assist with evacuations and sheltering procedures if necessary during an emergency and be able to assist the Campus Police implementing and enforcing rules and procedures to maintain a safe environment on campus.

Serve as a resource of college information while assisting faculty, students, staff and visitors on the phone and in person. Assist in locating classrooms, meeting rooms and other college activities. Refer students to appropriate resources. Assist with disseminating information to others as needed.

Serve as a Wellness Ambassador and ask students if they have completed their health screening self-assessments on a daily basis as students enter campus.

Determine that classes are in attendance as scheduled and classroom equipment is operating as designed by making regular building rounds and by responding to faculty needs.

Provide locking and unlocking of doors and securing assigned buildings at beginning and end of work shift.

Assist with emergency evacuations or sheltering procedures in response to an active emergency at the assigned buildings or campus.

Document and report incidents as necessary including sensitive, confidential, or secure information. Refer students to proper channels if unable to assist.

Assist with room setups as needed, particularly AV equipment. Provide initial trouble shooting for technology related issues and report technical problems to proper technicians as needed.

Monitor designated facilities during evening and weekend hours and report maintenance and supplies needs appropriate staff and/or process.

Assist with Student Services check-in when needed.

Assist with calling prospective students when needed (Inquiry to Needs to Register) from the Customer Relationship Management Software (enrollment calls).

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.

Minimum of two years working in an educational setting, customer service or related experience in facility operations related function preferred.

Excellent customer service skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to handle confidential information.

Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and visitors.

Ability to work autonomously with little supervision.

Microsoft Office computer skills required. E-mail and Internet competency.

Willingness to rotate to all the college’s extension campuses including some weekends.

Bilingual preferred. Training in CPR, AED, and First Aid helpful.

Ability to be certified in First Responder First Aid/CPR/AED and Mental Health First Aid.
