Academic Advisor (Part-Time) - Byrum School of Business

Marian University’s Byrum School of Business has an exciting part time opportunity serving as an Academic Advisor. This is a nine month position (approximately 10 hours per week) plus a few days during the summer to assist with the registration of incoming students. The Advisor reports to the Associate Dean of the Byrum School of Business and promotes Marian University’s Catholic mission and identity by providing academic advising, registration, coaching, and retention of prospective undergraduate business students. The advisor interacts with faculty, professional staff, students, and other college personnel to enhance and facilitate the admission, progression, and graduation of students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services. Performs all responsibilities in accordance with established policies and procedures of Marian University and The Byrum School of Business (BSOB). Serves as a representative of Marian University within the community. Provides academic advising for undergraduate business students. Coaches advisees toward academic success. Assists students with the registration of classes. Advises and refers students to appropriate departments and faculty as needed Monitors and documents student progress from admission, progression and through graduation regarding grades, GPA, degree audits and program requirements. Communicates concerns in regard to student progress to student, faculty, and appropriate Marian personal. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to advise multiple populations of students simultaneously.
