DescriptionThe HealthProfessions Education program invites applications for a full-time or part-time12-month faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor. The successfulcandidate will have prior expertise in health professions education scholarshipand in facilitating effective online learning for health professionals. Thesuccessful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the ability to teach,provide scholarly advisement, and mentor learners from multiple healthprofessions, social identities, and countries of origin.  

 The Associate orAssistant Professor will join the Center for Interprofessional Studies andInnovation (CIPSI) with primary responsibilities in teaching and supervisingresearch projects for PhD students, who are primarily mid-career clinicians andeducators engaged in part-time, largely online study. Candidates who cancontribute to the program’s emphasis on simulation, leadership, and/orinterprofessional education and practice are particularly desirable.


ResponsibilitiesAll facultymembers are expected to contribute to the MGH Institute’s teaching, research,and service missions. Initial faculty appointments are for one to three years,depending on rank and qualifications. While the MGH Institute does notoffer tenure, faculty appointments are eligible for renewal indefinitely interms of up to five years. Candidates whocan commit to only less than full-time service will also be considered. Presencein Boston is desired but not required.

 The successfulcandidates for this position will engage in their own scholarly work as well ascollaborate with faculty in the HPEd program and at the Institute. The facultymember will focus on teaching PhD students, but there will be opportunities toteach introductory and advanced health professions education courses and toserve on scholarly project committees for students in the MS-HPEd program. Thefaculty member will also participate in other academic activities related to admissions,student advising, etc.

    Qualifications 

    Required:
  • Earned doctorate in a relevant field to teaching and supervising graduate students in Health Professions Education
  • Track record of conducting and supervising education-related research
  • Experience as an educator with previous online teaching

  • Preferred:


    • Prior interprofessional collaboration experiences
    • Evidence of motivation to collaborate in innovative educational efforts
    • Demonstration of mentorship
    • Experience in facilitating remote collaborations
    • Record of or potential for securing external funding for research and scholarship
     

    Communication Skills - Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
