Job Description:

1. Assisting with implementation of crop research and extension trials.This includes plot layout, planting, staking, harvesting, irrigating, crop removal, weeding and tasks necessary to complete the project.Examples of crops include corn, watermelon, peanut, tomato and cucumber.
2. Operating farm equipment. The types of equipment would include trucks, tractors with various implements, mini-excavator, forklift, off-road buggies and harvesters.
3. Assisting with data collection. These tasks would include plot harvesting, soil and tissue sampling, taking observational notes and photos during cropping seasons along with weighing and grinding samples to fulfill research and extension project requirements.
4. Landscape Maintenance. Includes mowing, hedging, weed-eating, landscaping and irrigating.
5. Building Maintenance. Includes pressure washing, minor building repairs, and painting.
6. Equipment Maintenance. Includes light repair and fabrication along with routine maintenance of various farm equipment and implements.
7. Field Day and Events Setup. Tasks would include setup of tables/chairs, cleaning, staging and decorating areas for community events.

Expected Salary:

$15 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license and be able to pass a background check.
