Founded in 1979, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an independent professional graduate school with a dynamic student body and a professionally accomplished faculty. Our curriculum and training opportunities prepare graduates to deliver outstanding professional services emphasizing the ability to understand and work with diverse populations. We are currently searching for a Department Chair to join our Chicago Campus. The Department Chair is often the first point of contact individuals have with the institution, and as such is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support.

Position Summary

The Chicago School is seeking a Department Chair to lead its Master’s in Forensic Psychology Program at the Chicago Campus. The Department Chair provides the day-to-day administrative functions of the department. These duties include providing direction to the faculty with regard to scheduling courses, hiring full and adjunct faculty, chairing meetings, assessing curricular and student assessment data, managing yearly budgets, addressing student concerns, reviewing and assessing accreditation standards and department goals, and coordinating various administrative functions with the Dean of Academic Affairs and other departments as appropriate. The Forensic department has been vital to the growth of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology since the inception of an MA degree in 2003; the doctoral program welcomed their first cohort of students in 2009.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Distinguishing the program by providing a vision that directs and motivates faculty to be innovative
  • Managing the operations of the program in a complex, fast-paced higher education environment;
  • Ensuring the quality of the faculty, curriculum, assessment of student learning, and scholarly activity of faculty and students; support national curriculum alignment across campuses
  • Maintenance of collegial and supportive relationships with relevant accrediting and professional bodies and completion of required reporting or documentation.
  • Faculty committee and production assignments
  • Facilitation of Program Faculty Governance and All Faculty meetings.
  • Supervision and development of Program, Affiliate, and Adjunct Faculty to meet quality standards and goals as well as institutional priorities
  • Oversight and coordination of the academic program to meet quality, relevance, and currency standards and goals
  • Oversight and coordination of Student Affairs within the program.
  • Development of viable new curricular offerings in the field.
  • Participation in research, writing and ultimate responsibility for any necessary self-study or program-related reports.
  • Management of the student learning assessment plan and the program review process for the department to identify needed improvements to student learning
  • Development of strategic academic and budget plans for Department, including recommendations from the assessment and program review process.
  • Outreach and recruitment of faculty and support of student recruitment.
  • Coordination or management of student training.
  • Supervision of the teaching, advisement, dissertation activities, and other duties performed by Faculty members to meet department academic goals

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have preferably earned a doctoral degree from an APA accredited institution, presently hold licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, and must have extensive forensic experience that reflects a range of experiences with forensic populations and in various settings.
  • In addition, it is expected that candidates will have had substantial experience in administration (that includes fiscal management), diverse delivery models, teaching, and personnel development.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification and selection of program and professional faculty to teach in the department.
  • The candidate must also be committed to continuing the vision of making The Chicago School’s Forensic programs nationally recognized.
  • Evidence of strong teaching, scholarship, and professional involvement within the field of Clinical Forensic Psychology is required.Members of the American Board of Forensic Psychology are highly encouraged to apply.
