We seek applicants for a research technician position to conduct research on the self-assembly and characterization of crystalline framework materials. The position will involve application of benchtop chemistry and materials science tools. The successful applicant will work with Professors Smith and Arslan to study the crystallization of porous polymeric solids with incorporated host-guest complexes. The structure will be compared to theoretical predictions and its sensitivity to reaction conditions will be established. The successful candidate will prepare and isolate crystalline powders and evaluate them using powder X-ray diffraction. In addition, they will perform essential procedures for the lab including preparation of solutions, lab organization, and ordering. Basic chemistry methods, willingness to learn new techniques, and computer literacy are essential. Familiarity with solid-state characterizations and/or organic synthesis, excellent organizational skills, and effective communication skills are preferred.

Interview process will be conducted remotely. Review of applications will begin on July 30 and position will remain open until filled. Ideal start date is August 17.

Typically requires: a Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry or a related field with one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a fixed term appointment funded for three months from date of hire. Additional month(s) may be added based on funding.
