Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Maintenance Technician- 2nd Shift (Trades Specialist IV) in University Housing.

Duties include, but are not limited to: performing high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry; maintaining documentation regarding work activities through housing software solution; requesting and maintaining equipment and materials; inspecting housing facilities and equipment; moving furniture, supplies, and equipment; working collaboratively with constituents; utilizing safety practices and completing required trainings; maintaining safe and clean working environment; following departmental rules, regulations, and protocols; participating in on-call rotation; completing general custodial work; and performing others duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance are required. A successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and must have a clear three (3) year driving record. Successful candidate will also have working knowledge and understanding of equipment used in general trades. Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing profession preferred. Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and “man-lift” devices. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Must be able to work overtime – before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc. Must be flexible to meet the scheduling needs of the university.

Required Qualifications
