Job Description Summary

This full-time position is for a Senior Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) who will be a core member of a collaborative care team. The Senior CRS will be part of a research study evaluating collaborative care models for integrating buprenorphine treatment from the ED to primary care for patients with opioid use disorders. This individual will supervise the work of other CRSs and serve as a liaison between the other CRSs and the primary care team and research study. The Senior CRS will assist in training of the CRSs and with project implementation. This person will develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency. The Senior CRS will be responsible for updating and expanding resources within Penn and with community practices (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.). This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders. This individual will also assist with study recruitment by maintaining communication with clinical partners to raise awareness of the study and enhance referrals. The Senior CRS will also be responsible for managing their own caseload of patients by providing patients with recovery education and by providing a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible. The Senior CRS will maintain contact either in-person, by phone or e-mail with the recovering person once they start the study and throughout the intervention to ensure ongoing success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the agency if needed. This individual will assist the recovering person to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery and link them to needed resources. The Senior CRS will help the other CRSs to identify barriers to full participation in recovery-related activities and develop strategies to overcome those barriers for their caseloads. The target population are individuals with opioid use disorder.

Job Description

Responsible to assist with study coordination and recruitment for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects within a specific Division, under general supervision. Works directly with study physicians, research coordinators, project managers, and other research staff. Performs screening visits, consenting of participants, processing and shipping of labs, entering data into databases, and escorting participants to other testing/procedure areas. Help advance the research mission of the Division and University.


Position contingent upon funding.


Qualifications

A High School Diploma and 3 years to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

An Associate’s Degree in behavioral health, nursing, or related field is preferred. Must have 2 or more years of prior behavioral health experience and knowledge of behavioral health resources. Must be a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS). Must maintain a valid CRS certification and remain in good standing during employment.

Other qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting

Ability to work with patients by telephone and in-person

Ability to supervise others

Ability to quickly assimilate new information in a fast paced work environment with enthusiasm

Well organized and demonstrates skill in prioritizing competing job duties.

Ability to utilize computer software (Word, Outlook, Exel)

Special interest in those who have previous experience working in community-based research or in under-resourced settings.
