POSITION SUMMARY

The Workforce Training Coordinator, Economic & Workforce Development is responsible for assisting in the operations and reporting of all institutional economic and workforce development initiatives and services, reserving meeting space for workforce and apprenticeship classes, meetings and events, and tracking and reporting of pertinent data. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Vice Chancellor of Economic and Workforce Development in execution of institutional strategic project goals and objectives.
  • Monitors the scheduling of instructional spaces for workforce services, assuring that adequate space is available and provides appropriate visitor experiences. This includes providing guidance to visitors, special services for administrative support, and client liaison services.
  • Directs maintenance of files, documentation and data, relating to workforce training for the institution, including dass records, instructor records, rentals, food and beverage, and serves as liaison to outside vendors through the workforce development process.
  • Assists with the Workforce Training Consortium program hosted on the Jonesboro campus; and assists with the Newport non-credit courses as follows:
  • Maintain non-credit course website posting and class schedulesCoordinate WTC events, meetings and minutesManage Economic and Workforce materials and suppliesCoordinate non-credit course participation records and reportsCoordinate billing, cdass rosters, and invoicing for non-credit course activities with WTC representative, as well as with ASU NewportAssist in coordination of workforce grants documentationBuild and maintain WTC database of member organizations, and contactsInvoice WTC organizations for membership dues, and for course enrollmentsProvide summary report of non-credit class participation and activitiesCoordinates social media postings for course announcementsPrepares social media graphics for course postings
  • Initiates and maintains client workforce training grant applications and delivery processes, coordinating with state agencies.
  • Monitors and maintains contact database that includes business and industry, advisory board groups, economic development and workforce partners, and state and federal agency contacts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential mentioned satisfactorily. The duty requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associates' degree from an accredited institution plus related experience in higher education or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree; 4 years of business office experience is strongly preferred.


RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT

Shares responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of assigned facilities and monitoring of equipment


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to write reports, correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals so others will understand; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, administration or the general public. The ability to speak dearly so others can understand your instruction.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.


CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Under general direction of the Vice-Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development, working from policies and general directives.


PLANNING

Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a others involved in the workforce development process.


DECISION MAKING

Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization's customers.


CONTACT WITH OTHERS

Regular contacts with students, parents, and community leaders. Involves both furnishing and obtaining information and, also, attempting to influence the decisions of those persons contacted. Regular contact with other university employees at all levels within the organization.


SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

Intermediate: Word Processing/Typing

Basic: Alphanumeric data entry, Microsoft Access Database Input, Tracking and Reporting, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets Data Analysis Tools, Conditional Formatting, Pivot Tables, Functions and Formulas, Building Data Forms with Excel databases, Utilize Data Validation Techniques and Creating Dynamic List Boxes.

2006 - Ten-year accreditation granted by Higher Learning Commission of North Central Accreditation.

2006 - First fully online degree program offered - Associate of Arts in Business.

2007 - ASUN assumed operational oversight for the technical centers in both Jonesboro and Marked Tree.

2009 - ASUN enrollment exceeds 2,000 students.

2012 - ASUN hosts "First Decade Celebration" in Newport, Marked Tree and Jonesboro.
