The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking applications for an open rank Clinical Faculty Position in the School of Nursing to begin January 2021. Duties include program leadership of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner tracks, faculty recruitment, course and clinical coordination, evaluation, mentoring, annual accreditation and evaluation reports, student advisement, and may include teaching. Additional efforts in professional achievement and professional service are expected, UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly work, student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions and are committed to UTRGV’s strategic plan, vision, mission, values and core priorities (https://www.utrgv.edu/strategic-plan/). Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Minimum QualificationsDoctorate of Nursing Practice from an accredited university. PhD preferred. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas prior to beginning the position. Hold an APRN license in the state of Texas.
Discipline Specific Required QualificationsLicensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas prior to beginning the position. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner- Board Certified (current).
Preferred QualificationsAt least 2 years of clinical experience, previous teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level(s) with ethnically diverse populations, evidence of strong potential for teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship.

§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
