Essential Job Duties:

The Department of Music at North Carolina State University invites outstanding applicants for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position in Music Technology. The position will play a leadership role in the development of a new undergraduate curriculum in music technology in collaboration with the university’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and will be expected to develop courses in support of that program and teach core courses such as the introduction to digital or analog audio technologies. The Department seeks a faculty member whose interdisciplinary work spans both creative and research practice in the fields of music and electrical or computer engineering. The primary area of emphasis can be drawn from any area of music technology ranging from digital audio and signal processing to software and digital hardware.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring of students. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Expected start date is Fall 2021.

Minimum Experience and Education:

PhD or DMA in computer music, music technology, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field or Master’s degree and equivalent professional experience. ABD will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three to five years teaching experience at the university level.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educational partners, business/industry, or external agencies

PhD or DMA in music, music technology, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field

Experience and/or credentialing in both music and engineering
