Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library serves as a resource library for the National Library of Medicine and supports graduate clinical, biomedical science, and public health education on the UNT Health Science Center campus in Fort Worth, Texas. Lewis Library also operates the library for JPS Health Network, with opportunities for Lewis Librarians to participate directly in improving patient care.

Position Overview

The Gibson D. Lewis Library at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Librarian to join our team.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in library or information science and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPreferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in a reference or research related position in an academic setting.
  • Expert literature searching skills.
  • Background in customer or public service.
  • Experience within an academic health sciences setting and/or related programs.
  • Experience serving as a departmental liaison in an academic setting.
  • Experience using emerging technology for education and curriculum development.

Participation in the reference, liaison, instruction, and collection development functions of Lewis Library including promotion of library services, programs and resources to academic departments.

Works as part of the Library Research Services team to support the clinical liaison program by providing in house, specialized reference.

o

Conducts extensive mediated literature searches and provides other research services for all UNTHSC patrons.

o

Provides extensive support for research to the scholarly community that includes service in person, via phone, email and other electronic means and during regularly scheduled desk hours.

o

Partners with faculty with the goal of further embedding library instruction into the curriculum.

o

Provides individual and group instruction to users.
