CU Boulder Campus HR is encouraging applicants for our HR IT Business Analyst position! This key position will manage HR IT projects as determined by HR senior leadership. You will need to understand HR business needs and objectives and determine what IT services and applications can/should be deployed to meet those needs and objectives. To make these determinations, you will need to work closely with departmental and campus leadership, campus IT governance groups, and CU system-wide stakeholders.
The 30,000 foot view:
  • Support operational analysis
  • Lead new project implementation
  • Deliver continuous improvement on a variety of implemented projects
  • Maintain ongoing communication with HR leadership regarding project status, issues and enhancements.
  • Provide application support
In general, this role will manage HR IT projects as determined by senior leadership, coordinate analysis provided by domain matter specialists, document requirement feedback from partners, and guide HR teams through project initiatives.

  • Develop a thorough technical and functional understanding of implemented system capabilities.
  • Analyze current state business processes and lead HR stakeholders to the proposed future state.
  • Collaborate with users, vendors and technical counterparts to elicit requirements using process flow models, use cases or user stories, data models and UML diagrams.
  • Lead and facilitate requirements review sessions and workshops.
  • Develop solutions of low to moderate complexity while considering business objectives and desired outcomes.
  • Provide input into testing requirements and lead testing sessions including UAT and training.
  • Verify requirements and evaluate solutions.
  • Provide support to HR stakeholders through established business analysis techniques and strategies.
  • Create and update both project and requirements documentation while tracking key milestones.
  • Provide ongoing updates to stakeholders, thoroughly communicating status for various projects and reporting and tracking issues and enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot system issues:
  • Provide root cause analysis with technically accurate details; analyze workarounds; manage system defects and roadmap items.
  • Collaborate with University Information Services (UIS) regarding shared projects.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and University Information Services (UIS) to ensure:
    • Compliance with IT architecture standards and services
    • Ensure technical needs are executed in a timely manner and projects remain on track.
    • Overall university context is properly considered in any proposed IT solution.

What We Can OfferThe salary range for this position starts at $65,000 annually, reaching as high as the high $70's, depending on background and experience.Benefits

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or a combination of education and experience as detailed here may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 3 years of IT Business Analyst experience that includes:
    • Development of both high-level strategic business cases and formal requirements specifications.
    • Business analysis, process mapping, and design of sophisticated systems and processes using methodologies and tools such as BPMN, UML, flow charts, and data models.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into solutions.
  • 1 year of experience with general system configuration, application support, or application development.

    • Trouble shooting and root cause analysis
    • Developing and working with roadmaps
    • Meeting facilitation
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Providing analysis, support and development in PeopleSoft HCM 9.2, Cornerstone Performance Management, Cherwell, and Avature or other relational database platform.
  • Business Analyst certification such as CCBA, CBAP, or PMI-PBA.
