Maintenance Technician

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Maintenance Technician (Trades Specialist IV) in University Housing.

Duties include, but are not limited to: performing high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry; maintaining documentation regarding work activities through housing software solution; requesting and maintaining equipment and materials; inspecting housing facilities and equipment; moving furniture, supplies, and equipment; working collaboratively with constituents; utilizing safety practices and completing required trainings; maintaining safe and clean working environment; following departmental rules, regulations, and protocols; participating in on-call rotation; completing general custodial work; and performing others duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance are required. A successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and must have a satisfactory three (3) year driving record. Successful candidate will also have working knowledge and understanding of operation of equipment used in general trades. Successful candidate should also have knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Must be able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts and “man-lift” devices. Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing profession preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.

Required Qualifications
