The ideal candidate will be well-versed in methods of cell and molecular biology including basic cell culture techniques, molecular cloning, PCR, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot, and able and willing to learn new research methods and techniques as required. Research techniques include but are not limited to maintenance of cell lines, transfection, molecular cloning, bacterial culture work, PCR, qRT-PCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry and cryosectioning. Analysis of data and preparation of publication quality figures and written reports.
Other responsibilities include:
- Carry out molecular and cell biology experiments and optimize lab protocols
- Data collection and analysis for publications and grants
- Management of samples and record databases
- Coordinate laboratory tasks and instruct new personnel/students
- Attend lab and group meetings and present results
Qualifications
Research Specialist A -Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and 0-1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist B - Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
Research Specialist A/B - Experience working in a biomedical research lab is preferred. Must be organized and detail-oriented and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and basic computer programs are expected. Good oral and written communications skills and ability to work with a large and varied group are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to a minimum of two years. Position may require working on the weekends. This position is contingent on grant funding.
