The Executive Director of Finance and Planning provides leadership and direction for all planning and financial functions of this organization having an annual operating budget exceeding $80 million and a capital project budget that averages $7 million per year. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior management team in establishing strategic direction for the organization's budget and planning processes.
Key responsibilities will include: providing oversight of financial analysis, performance metrics and operating budgets; managing service cost and billing functions; maintaining effective internal controls and ensuring ISC compliance with University policies and procedures and GAAP. The role also serves as a representative on financial matters for ISC, University and external (IVY Plus, etc.) committees, task forces and meetings and is responsible for working with a diverse group of ISC stakeholders to define strategic plans, annual goals, and benchmarks.
In addition to leading all ISC efforts related to managing and reporting financial results and performance, provide strategic financial input and leadership for decision making (e.g., develop funding plans for key projects), prepare and present financial and performance measurement reports for senior leadership;, and supervise, develop and coach a staff of 5 Finance & Planning team members, with four direct reports.Job Description
Principal Position Responsibilities/Duties:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for development of short-term and long-term financial plans, financial analysis, performance metrics and operating budgets. Manage service cost and billing functions. Maintain effective internal controls and ensure ISC compliance with University policies and procedures and GAAP.
Be a representative on financial matters for ISC, University and external (IVY Plus, etc.) committees, task forces and meetings. Coordinate and assist ISC units, service owners and project managers in defining strategic plans, annual goals, and benchmarks. Work closely with ISC HR.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct all aspects of ISC's fiscal function. Prepare and present financial and performance measurement reports to senior leadership.
Provide strategic financial input and leadership for decisions (e.g., develop funding plans for key projects). Provide analysis and recommendations for new initiatives, and implement within the Division.
Supervise, develop and coach Finance & Planning team members.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree and at least 7-10 years of progressive experience as a Financial Administrator, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred. Experience in higher education is highly desirable.
