Position Overview

The Medical Billing Specialist supports medical billing and coding in the primary care medical office (Health Services) in accordance with legal requirements, compliance standards, coding rules, conventions and definitions. The position provides the analytical support for income and business operations for Health Services as well as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as a Super User and Administrator.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepares encounters for billing and assures coding and medical record documentation meets federally mandates guidelines.
• Manages payments, posting and Account Receivables to assure optimal insurance reimbursements.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all electronic transactions for the student health insurance plan, Student Accounts, and 3rd party administrator commercial pay.
• Administer student health insurance plan through United HealthCare
• Super User for Electronic Medical Records.
• Provide financial reports and data summaries to Director, Health Services.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, audits and quality assurance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3-5 years of billing/coding experience
• Bachelor's Degree
• CPB or CPC-A certification
• Possess strong customer service skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
