Job Summary

The AAC Tutor will work one-on-one with students who have requested tutoring assistance for a specific course. Tutors will spend up to 90 minutes per week with each student, helping them learn and comprehend course material, understand projects and papers, help students study for exams, and provide best practice study skills and techniques. The AAC Tutor will also aid drop-in students in the Academic Achievement Center. Other duties as assigned may include helping students with basic technology support and occasional work at JCCC off-campus locations.

Required Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
-2 years of tutoring or teaching experience, with a minimum of 1 year tutoring experience in a college academic achievement center or like experience in a collegiate academic department or division
-Experience working with students with disabilities
-Well-developed communication and listening skills
-Good organizational skills
-Experience with Microsoft Office products, Learning Management Systems, email and educational databases and must be able help students with computer programs and online learning platforms
-Ability to explain content material to students orally and in written form
