Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. Seeking a Non-USG Undergraduate Student Tech Temp who is organized, attentive to detail, self-starting, proactive, a good communicator, flexible, and proficient in multi-tasking. Prior cleanroom experience is not necessary, but prior experience working in a lab environment is strongly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications and general office computer applications are required.

Under direct supervision, learn and participate in projects and/or programs that are specific to the hiring GT department.This position is for temporary, paid, Undergraduate College students aged 18 or overwho are enrolled in a non-University System of Georgia (USG) school. May work across diverse fields of study related to their major or other area of interest.

Georgia Tech's Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN) is looking for a Non-USG Undergraduate Student Tech Temp to operate in the Materials Characterization Facility (MCF) under the supervision of our lab staff. The Tech Temp will become responsible for many of the day-to-day needs of the MCF and will learn to operate a variety of characterization tools. In addition to using tools and equipment for experiments, the Tech Temp will also be charged with training other MCF users to use said equipment. The Tech Temp will also participate in the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.

The Non-USG Undergraduate Student Tech Temp will acquire: in-depth understanding of at least one technique for analyizing materials; a broad overview of various microanalysis techniques and how they complement one another; behind-the-scenes experience in lab and equipment operation, maintenance, and upkeep/repair
